Landing Pages

Landing pages are a critical part of converting anonymous users into leads as well as increasing sales. The key components of landing page design include:

  • Messaging: The Headline should directly relate to the needs and motivations of the user and be a seamless transition from where the visitor came from. For example, if the landing page is for a Google AdWords campaign and the headline text of the ad says ‘oil spill remediation products’, the headline on the landing page should include ‘oil spill remediation products’ as well.

  • Call to Action: This is the tricky and fun part – how to entice visitors to fill out a short form with a compelling offer? Often testing different calls to action via A/B testing is helpful since small variations can significantly affect results.

  • Navigation + Design: The goal of a landing page is to convert a visitor i.e. fill out a form. This is often called a sales funnel whereby the design of the page funnels the visitor's eye to the call to action (CTA) button. The design of the page only includes the branding, messaging, content, and CTA. Extraneous navigation and links are omitted or diminished so that there is minimal distraction and options for leaving the page.
